Bacteriophage T2r+ Infection

چکیده
The activities of six bacteriophage T2r+-induced enzymes (thymidylate synthetase, deoxycytidylate deaminase, thymidylate kinase, deoxycytidylate hydroxymethylase, deoxycytidine pyrophosphatase, and dihydrofolate reductase) were measured after dilution of phage-infected Escherichia coli B from 8 X 108 to 2 x 108 cells per ml. The only enzyme activity altered was that of deoxycytidylate deaminase, which increased threeto fourfold. Conversely, the rapid concentration of cells from 2 X 108 to 8 X 108 per ml did not result in a reduction in deaminase activity. Although an enhancement in aeration reduced the response of deoxycytidylate deaminase to cellular dilution, the influence of potential metabolic inhibitors or activators could not be shown. The change in deoxycytidylate deami-

متن کاملThe effect of virus infection on the utilization of tryptophan by Escherichia coli.
Several techniques have been utilized in this laboratory for the study of the nutritional requirements for virus synthesis in Escherichia coli infected by bacteriophage. For instance, it was observed that when E. coli strain B grown in nutrient broth was resuspended in a simple medium (F) and infected with T2r+ bacteriophage, there was a marked decrease in the amount of virus produced, as well ...
متن کاملSoil-transmitted helminth infections and leprosy: a cross-sectional study of the association between two major neglected tropical diseases in Indonesia
BACKGROUND The clinical spectrum of leprosy is dependent on the host immune response against Mycobacterium leprae or the newly discovered Mycobacterium lepromatosis antigen. Helminth infections have been shown to affect the development of several diseases through immune regulation and thus may play a role in the clinical manifestations of leprosy and leprosy reactions. The purpose of this study...

Background & Aims: Acinetobacter baumannii is a gram-negative pathogen that causes a wide range of hospital-acquired infections. Due to its intrinsic traits and its remarkable abilities to quickly acquire resistance genes, it has become resistant to most antimicrobial agents and a major problem for hospitals. In recent years, application of lytic bacteriophages has been considered to eradicate ...
متن کاملBiochemical Studies of Virus Reproduction
Direct chemical evidence has shown that the infecting bacterial virus particle is extensively broken down during the reproductive process (1,2). This finding supports the interpretation of various studies of bacteriophage reproduction by geneticists, who have postulated that the virus is broken down to smaller units shortly after infection (3-6). The disruption of the virus particle upon infect...
